Was born in Marathon, Texas to Oscar and Mary Cope Bagwell. She was from a family of eleven children and had a twin brother. Fay worked for the telephone company in El Paso until she and her husband purchased a grocery store in El Paso, which she ran until they moved to Hatch in 1947.
After moving to Rodeo she ran her brother’s grocery store for a few years. After Johnny passed away Fay sold the farm and moved in with her youngest daughter, Frances, in Las Cruces. She passed away in 1993.
